Percale or Sateen for Indian Summers?

For hot, humid summers, choose percale. Its simple one-over, one-under weave lets air move through the fabric, so it feels crisp and cool against the skin. Sateen is smoother and drapes closer to the body, which makes it lovely for winter or an air-conditioned room.

How they feel

  • Percale: matte, light, breathable, with the fresh feel of a hotel sheet. It softens with every wash. It creases more easily, as natural cotton does.
  • Sateen: silky, with a soft sheen and a heavier drape. It feels a little warmer and wrinkles less.

Ours, in each weave

  • Percale: Pearl White, Cream Beige, Golden Sand, Serene Green, Silver Grey, Dark Grey, Charcoal and Navy Blue
  • Sateen: Champagne Beige, Midnight Navy and Deep Plum

Both weaves are 100% cotton, 400 TC, and priced the same: from ₹1,500 for a Single to ₹3,250 for a Super King. You could keep one of each: percale for summer, sateen for the cooler months.
